Ilunion Málaga

Location was very good—close to the train station and about a 15 min walk from the heart of downtown and to the shopping district along the pier. Breakfast was great. Room had a great view, comfy beds, large, free minibar.

This was not our first visit at Ilunion Malaga and we returned exactly because we appreciated services they offer on our previous stay. We were accompanied by our adult son and his partner, who also thoroughly enjoyed their time here. Starting with its location 5 minutes on foot away from the station and in walking distance to the Old Town, Alcazaba, Gibralfaro, Cathedral as well as all other museums, the hotel offers spacious and clean rooms with a big wardrobe and a writing desk. Breakfast is served for 3.5 hours every morning (starting at 07:00 AM on weekdays and 07:30 AM on Saturday/Sunday) thus catering for preferences of business travelers, as well as tourists on vacation. There is a vast choice of cold cuts/cheeses plus salads, as well as omelets/fried eggs prepared on the spot, fruit, various pastries/home made sweets. Drinks range from still mineral water and fresh orange juice to coffee/tea with milk (cow, goat or vegetal) - all in all a treat. We had no occasion to visit Spa area or pool, as we enjoyed an Indian Summer on the beach in mid-October. We know they also offer parking space, but cannot comment as we did not use it. We would like to extend our very special thanks to the Reception Desk Team (Elisabeth, Paloma, Jesus and all the other team members whose names we failed to remember) for their invaluable help in times of need caused by a quite unpleasant event we had during our stay.

Nice sized room. For some reason I was allocated a reduced mobility room, which had a well equipped bathroom for those that require handrails, seats in the shower and that type of equipment, (I was just staying for 1 night so I didn’t query it). Staff were polite and helpful. Hotel was very clean. Check in and check out was a simple and quick affair. It’s well placed near the port and fairly close to restaurants. The single bed was comfy, (I was given a twin room even though I’d requested a double bed). The hotel has an underground garage at 18€ a day and the lift goes down to the garage, (reception will validate you ticket and charge you the cost of the parking). There’s a pool but I didn’t have time to use it but we were offered towels at reception (there’s a deposit to pay). Hotel has a nice snack bar which I did use in the evening, but the menu is limited.

A well run hotel with spacious, comfortable and very functional rooms. The hotel was a haven of calm (after leaving the processions for Semana Santa behind). A good continental breakfast (buffet) in a pleasant breakfast room or terrace. A good sized pool with gym and sauna/steam room kept very clean (pool covered and heated in April which was great). All staff were courteous and helpful, maid service excellent. The one evening meal we had in the small downstairs bar/restaurant was very good value. Lovely views along the coast from the external glass lift!

Beautiful hotel, smelt amazing when we walked in and a nice friendly greeting from the lady on reception.
